The ten best television series of 2019.

2019 was a major year for television and especially for streaming services. This year a lot of new series aired. Some shows came back with another season as well. Therefore, a lot of shows is equalled to a ton of disarray. As we know, we can’t keep up with each show. So, here is my list of the best shows to binge-watch.

10. Euphoria (HBO)

Euphoria is a teen drama series. Therefore, released on July 16, 2019. The show depicts the life of high school teenagers. And also, their experiences of friendship, love, drugs, sex, heartbreak and pain. Created by Sam Levinson. In view of his own encounters as a teenager, including his battles with illicit drug use. Moreover, the cast includes Zendaya, Angus Cloud, Maude Apatow and Sydney Sweeney. The primary season has a total of 8 episodes. 

9. You (Netflix)

The psychological thriller television series. Hence, making it one of the best series of 2019. The series is based on the novel named ‘Hidden Bodies’ by Caroline Kepnes. In season two, the story rotates around a character named Joe Goldberg (Pan Badgley). A person who starts his life with a new identity. You was returned for another season on Netflix on December 26, 2019. Furthermore, to escape his past, Joe Goldberg moves from New York to Los Angeles in season two. Even more, this season contains a total of 10 episodes.

8. The End Of Fucking World (Netflix)

It’s a British series related to dark-comedy. The series is, particularly about James and Alyssa. James is a 17-year-old boy who believes he’s a psychopath. And, Alyssa is his cool and bold classmate. One day, Alyssa proposes to flee for an adventure with James. Additionally, the adventure leads to something which change their lives forever. The show depends on mini-comics. The comic is of a similar name by Charles Forsman. Alex Lawther plays the character of James. And, Jessica Barden plays the character of Alyssa. Season 2 was premiered on November 4, 2019.

7. The Boys (Amazon)

An American superhero web series featuring Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hugh Campbell, Antony Starr as John/Homelander and Eric Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight. Developed by Eric Kripke. Based on a novel of the same name by Darick Robertson and Garth Ennis. In addition, the Boys is consists of a universe where individuals with superpower are recognised as heroes by the common public. The first season was debuted on July 26, 2019 .

6. Dark (Netflix)

The absolute first German-language Netflix original series. Developed by Baran Bo Odar and Jantje Friese. It’s about a town named Winden. The children start vanishing from there. Thus, turning the town into the battleground for the everlasting battle between good and evil. The show for the most part centres around the dark past, double lives of four families living there. In the subsequent season, all four families continue with the endeavor to reunite with their loved ones.

5. The Crown (Netflix)

A historical drama web series about the dynasty of Queen Elizabeth II. The series is created and mainly written by Peter Morgan.  The royal drama series returned for the third season on November 17, 2019. It stars Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth, Matt Smith as Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret. Moreover, the third season follows back from 1964 to 1977. However, beginning with Harold Wilson’s political decision as head administrator. Furthermore, finishing with the Silver Jubilee of Elizabeth II. Additionally covering Edward Heath’s time as prime minister. 

4. The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance (Netflix)

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance is a prequel of a former movie. The picture was named The Dark Crystal from 1982 by Jim Henson. It is an American action-fantasy which returns to the world of Thra. Firstly, the three Gelfling – Rian (Taron Egerton), Brea (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Deet (Nathalie Emmanuel) discover the frightening mystery behind the Skeksis’ power. Then, they tried to save their world by exposing the reality of Skeksis. The first season was released back in August 30, 2019, with a whole of 10 episodes. 

3. Mr Robot (USA Network)

An American drama thriller series starring Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, Carly Chaikin as Darlene Alderson and Portia Doubleday as Angela Moss. Sam Esmail created the series. The show is particularly based on a cybersecurity engineer and hacker named Elliot. Also, he deals with social anxiety disorder, clinical depression and dissociative identity disorder . Mr Robot then recruits Elliot to join his team of hacktivists known as fsociety. The final season premiered on October 6, 2019.

2. Chernobyl (HBO)

The series is a historical drama, premiered on May 6, 2019. Particularly, based on an explosion at the Soviet Union’s Chernobyl nuclear power plant in April 1986. One of the worst human-made disasters in history. Even so, the five-episode series keeps on recounting to the tale about the people who provoked it. It also shows how brave men and women made a great sacrifice to save Europe from a strange catastrophe. The cast includes Jared Harris, Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgård.

1. Barry (HBO)

An American dark comedy-crime series. Created by Alec Berg and Bill Hader. However, the series is about a hitman named Barry Bakerman (Bill Hader) from Ohio. He then moves to Los Angeles to kill someone yet winds up getting caught in the city’s theatre arts scene. Furthermore, the second season continues with Barry questioning his path in life after his meeting the actress Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg). Meanwhile, the second season was premiered on March 31, 2019. It a sum of 8 episodes as well.
